Our Oaklands.
Our Victoria.

Growth should be planned with Oaklands, not imposed on Oaklands.

Oaklands needs more housing choices guided by thoughtful growth and respect for its neighbourhoods. This leading principle should include transparent zoning and permitting decisions where proposals to increase density are matched with existing infrastructure, parks, transit and services.

✦

Our Oaklands, Our Victoria is a non-ideological grassroots movement focused on how Victoria City Council makes decisions that shape our neighbourhood.

We are not endorsed or supported by political parties, unions or special-interest groups. We support more housing and a growing city, but we believe residents deserve honest information, meaningful consultation and planning that works in the real world.

More homes. Better planning. Real neighbourhood input.

Land-use decisions are permanent.

A council vote can change building height, density, setbacks, traffic, parking, tree protection and the demand placed on neighbourhood services.

Good growth is possible. It requires clear rules, transparent trade-offs and infrastructure planning before approvals are granted, not after residents are already living with the consequences.

Growth is permanent. The process must be honest.

Plan growth neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

Oaklands can welcome new homes while protecting what makes the area work. That means concentrating growth where services can support it, creating sensible transitions and giving residents clear information before permitting and zoning decisions towards higher growth are made.

Seven commitments for responsible growth.

⌕

Transparent Permitting and Zoning Decisions

Show residents the full proposal, the trade-offs and the reasons behind decisions.

◎

+

Infrastructure Before Density

♣

Trees and Green Space

↔

Traffic and Parking Reality

✓

Accountable Government

Make public commitments measurable, enforceable and visible after approval.

Your vote can change the direction of our city.

If you believe Victoria needs a change from how the city has been run over the past four years, this election is your opportunity to make that change happen.

We are concerned about how the majority of Victoria City Council (commonly known as the Gang of Five) has made decisions. Their decisions are undemocratic in process and are not only ineffective, but harmful in outcomes. They have had negative impacts on our city, our neighbourhood and the well-being of our residents.

We are committed to a change in City Council by replacing the Gang of Five with councillors who:

  • respect transparency and accountability
  • prioritize housing affordability
  • provide balanced, responsible growth and density
  • preserve heritage and neighbourhood character
  • provide infrastructure to support growth
  • protect our trees and public spaces
  • ensure safety and well-being for all
  • provide responsible fiscal management
One vote. A different council. A better Victoria.

Change the balance at City Hall.

For much of this council term, five councillors have become widely known as the “Gang of Five”: Jeremy Caradonna, Matt Dell, Susan Kim, Krista Loughton and Dave Thompson. Whatever your politics, five votes on a nine-member council can decide the direction of the city.

This group adopted city bylaws for the explicit purpose of encouraging housing developments to have size and density far greater than the mandate required by the province.

Your Vote 2026REMOVE THE GANG OF FIVE

Our concern is not the nickname. It is the concentration of voting power and the results residents have experienced.

Accountability

Major decisions should be open to scrutiny, with clear responsibility for outcomes.

Neighbourhood Voice

Residents should be meaningfully heard before major changes are treated as a done deal.

Public Safety

Compassion and public safety must work together. Residents, families and businesses deserve both.

Spending & Oversight

Taxpayer-funded programs and grants should have transparent oversight, measurable results and follow-through.

Rules Apply Consistently

City bylaws, permits and policies should be applied consistently and explained clearly when exceptions are made.

This is an issues-based campaign focused on how Victoria is governed, how decisions affect neighbourhoods and whether residents want a different balance at City Hall in 2026.
